Service

For the service portion of my project, I volunteered at my local YMCA's STEM camp. This camp focuses on building campers skills in every area of STEM, primarily robotics and basic coding. The campers used LEGO's Spike kit to build the robots, and Scratch, a visual coding language, to program them.

STEM classes have consistently been my favorite throughout my school career, and it is very important to me to see other people (especially the younger generations) also enjoy them. Robotics and computer science are two incredibly important fields in relation to space exploration, which inspired me to volunteer at this camp. I was able to use my coding knowledge and basic understanding of robotics to help campers with their projects, and I had lots of fun seeing their creations at work.
